This document presents the results of OGCI’s 2022-2023 Satellite Monitoring Campaign in Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Egypt. Building on the success of the 2021-2022 campaign in Iraq, this phase aimed to enable rapid and effective action on methane emissions in the oil and gas sector. Over the course of a year, GHGSat conducted more than 530 high-resolution satellite observations across 18 pre-selected sites (six per country), leveraging both its proprietary satellites and publicly available satellite data. The campaign demonstrated the value of satellite-based monitoring and engagement with local operators in mitigating methane emissions. By providing reliable data, it helped operators identify and characterize previously undetected persistent methane sources. Furthermore, the campaign underscored OGCI’s role in collaborating with national oil companies, joint-venture partners, and other stakeholders to accelerate methane reduction efforts across the industry.
